manual locking hubs conversion.

I have a 1996 Tacoma 4wd 4 cylinder 5 speed transmission ADD and no ABS. I want to put manual locking hubs on it. I know I will need the manual hub assemblies, bearings, seals , spacers etc. I have a pair of used spindles, that fit 95 through 2002 4wd Tacoma's, these spindle knuckles have the provision for ABS, but was told they will work. Will someone tell me what I need to convert this to manual hubs besides what I mentioned. I know I will need different cv axles, with provision for Manual locking hubs. I know that ORS make a kit, but I will be buying this over time, I prefer original Toyota parts. Thanks in advance Paul.

 

Uhhh. There wasn't an ADD available in '96.

Pretty sure you are incorrect about that. Monte's '96 has ADD.

 

Not sure who monte is or what his 96 has. But I'm sure I can be incorrect.

 

Yeah manual hubs were an option in 96. Not sure OP, mine came with 'em.

 

i used axles and the spindles with hubs for my swap. easy setup

 

I read on the net that they came out in 200, I could be wrong, thanks for pointing it out to me.

 

Sounds like you got it covered. I was going to do this mod on my 99 4runner, but the wife doesn't want to get out to lock the hubs. Do you guys use the ADD in conjunction with the hubs? Or disable the ADD and leave it locked.

 

Here's my 95.5 (4/95) with ADD:

 

Sweet. Virtually identical to all the ADD trucks. All the way thru the '04s.

 

I contacted Toyota U.S.A. they said 1996 was the year the ADD first came out.
