    Hey guys,

I'm new to the form but not so new to Toyota's however, I don't know everything and that's why I'm coming to you. I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner XtraCab with a 2.7L and automatic transmission. I've looked through countless threads on this issue and have yet to find anything for my particular model. I'm looking for a LSD for this truck and can't seem to find anything, can you guys help me with any information? I don't plan on going off through a deep hole in this truck, just looking for that extra tire on a boat ramp or when the roads are wet.

I'd look into getting a used TRD axle than an lsd, imo.

LSD was not available for 1st gen Tacomas, but you could swap in a differential from a 1st gen TRD Tundra. Same diff's.

I wouldn't want either in icy or snow or rainy on the hwy.

    But anyway...

Will, your stuck with lsd in all driving conditions if you decide to go that route... Any time you drive the truck, the lsd is always working doing it's thing.
A trd elocker rear will be selectable. On/Off. And probably a lot easier to afford because of all the rusted out frames of compatible trucks with them, in states a few hundred miles north of you.

Difficult part is the conversion. And, no, an elocker is not only useful in an "offroad" capacity.

Maybe. If I was eleventeen again. ;)
If I had a boat I'd probably use it on the boat ramp. :D

I've personally used it on steep wet driveway pulling up an over-loaded forklift.

could you swap a TRD e-locker in though? is there just a plain circuit for it or does it tie to the ECM at all for reporting back that it's on? I know the 4cyl TRD did not have an e-locker option available for 1st Gen is why I ask.

I put the kazooma/eaton lsd for tundras in my 98 4x4 non-trd rear, works great for a daily driver, lots more traction. But not too much ;)
