Aftermarket headlights have worse light patterns with hot spots or uneven light distribution. Aftermarket projector headlights are similar, usually equal or less than the light output of stock headlights. Stock headlights generally will be your best bet for plug and play. Retrofits are the best option if you want to spend a lot of money and or build some yourself for much cheaper. It's a lot easier than it seems if you have all the parts and just read through some guides on here. Ultimately its up to you, cost vs light output vs appearances.

If you are replacing your stock headlights for a visual upgrade, black headlight mod is an easy mod to change the look.
