    I got the guns... :D
.338 Win Mag and a .300 Win Mag both with Leupold Vari-X III scopes

I just do not know how to skin/gut/quarter. Hoping I can find a class at Fish and Game before next season.

I'm petty sure you can only bow hunt off the Dalton. You have to be like 5 miles off the road to shoot a gun up there.

I thought it was a mile, not sure myself. I am cool with going somewhere else to get a Caribou, really anywhere. Just don't want to carry it 5+ miles.

I was flying into Fairbanks a couple weeks ago and saw a flier for a company that specializes in Dalton Highway rentals. It actually looked pretty cool, and you could go year round. I'd really love to do that trip, too bad you can't actually make it to the ocean. The only downside to the rental is you have to be 30...but if you don't have a vehicle up here or don't want to risk your own it is an option.

I've worked out of Deadhorse for the better part of 10 years. Trust me, you don't want to drive it/camp it that late. It was already snowing and blowing when I came home Monday (9/7). I've only driven the Northern most 90 miles, and that was during winter in a company truck. I'd love to make this trip during the summer or early fall. But October is a little too late in the year.

I think it would be pretty cool to take the truck to the Arctic Ocean, but in order to reach it you either need a BP, ConocoPhillips, or ExxonMobil badge. I have all three.:stirthepot:

Just arrived in Fairbanks and this drive is on my list as well. Count me in for the summer.
