I'm getting ready to change out the ps, ac, and alternator belts on my 99 Tacoma and was wondering if I should go ahead and get new pulleys also. The belts have never been changed.

    Thanks

just wiggle them, there should be no wiggle to them at all and spin without any noise or the bearings are worn out. even if they don't wiggle if they rumble or sound raspy when you spin it, then the bearings are dry or getting dry and are ready to go bad.

I think they recommend you change them every 30k miles but it all depend where and how you drive so I just wait until they look or sound bad

Most cars will reach the end of their life and have the same pullies as when they came off the line. As long as they are moving smoothly, no reason to.

    umm, somewhat true I guess

but the cheap crappy little idler pulleys on our trucks don't last very long at all and if you stay on clean roads you "might" get 100,000 miles from them, dusty dirt roads maybe 50,000 miles and if you play in the mud ?????

I used a Dayco standard replacement belt for my stock engine, works great. Keep the old belt in the truck as a backup/emergency part.

Gates and Dayco are considered the industry standard, so those would be stock I guess.

Goodyear gatorback is a good belt.

I just bought a new 240amp Alternator and it was suggesting using Gates belt.
