Thank you for your service. I've heard that phrase many times, and have said it myself just as many times, but never has it meant more to me than it meant yesterday.
While keeping an appointment at the VA, a nurse approached me in the hallway, and handed me a bottle of water and a small envelope.

I had never recieved such a gift in my life.

The envelope was addressed "To a Veteran" in small, uneven but careful handwriting.
Inside, again carefully written, "Thank you for your service and for protecting our Country" signed by an 8th Grader in a school somewhere in these United States of America.

My eyes welled up with tears unexpectedly, and I couldn't speak for a few moments. My Veterans Day came just a bit early, and was brightened by a child I had never seen.
I wish this experience could be shared by all Veterans, and to those Veterans who are at peace, I dedicate that lovely little card.

    Thank you for your Service.
