defrost smells like stinky socks?

    Why would my defrost smell like my 17 yr olds nasty socks? Only defrost nothing else?? Help. :mad:

    After the filter, check the vents under the winshield, maybe spray some mildew bathroom spray in there if the smell remains.

    In the future make sure to turn off your AC and defrost and let the condensation on your compressor dry up before shutting the truck down. It will help tons.
    In the meantime there are a few aerosol products that are used to spray into the intake vent while vehicle is running to remove the odor, GL

    I believe the cabin air filter was recently replaced so I don't think that's it.

    I do not know what your stink is but I bought a truck from a field for a friend and it had mice all on the ducts. I'm sure that's not your problem, but I used a cheese grater and grated some zest soap and put it on paper plates and let it bake in the sun with the windows up. That was 2 years ago and the guy still says is smells shower fresh.

    check for dead rodent in the system.. seriously, its happened and emits a horrible rotten moldy smell when the defrost is turned on.

    My thoughts are the AC condensent tube is blocked leaving moisture in the system leading to mold. I think the ac cycles when on defrost to dry out the air for more effective defrosting and the air blowing across the ac evaporator coils brings the smell with it.
