A few years back when I had my truck parked for a couple months in the winter, some mice chewed up my washer pump wiring. I patched it up with splices. The pump failed after a year or so, maybe because i didn't catch a short in the wiring, so I put a new one in, and now that one just died another year later. I found another mouse chew short (hard to find). Anyway my wires are a patchy mess and the wires coming out of the level warning assembly are also fraying through right at the assembly (so very hard to replace/splice). My questions are:
    1. Is the level warning assembly necessary at all to the pump's functioning or can I just cut the wires and forget it?
    2. Can I just skip the harness connectors and direct wire the pump? My harness connectors are also in bad shape.

I'm just trying to cut to the quickest fix here without buying another warning assembly ($50) and replacing the harness connectors. I bought a new pump and tried doing the above things I'm asking about and it isn't running so I'm a little stumped. I hope this all makes sense.
    thanks.
    Nate
