But, that won't prevent a patrol unit parked and pointed in the OTHER direction (who only sees front tint and lack of front license plate from their angle) to give you a good, hard 2nd look. The sight of an out of state plate will usually almost negate them pursuing you for a BS vehicle code violation.

Had a military friend with TX plates, dark front tint and would just get harassed in my area constantly from "on coming" patrol units. He had a few LEO's apologize to him upon pulling over because they didn't realize the rear plate was out of state LOL!

Cali is one interesting, and fucked up state. The fantastic weather all year(in my area) has me by the nuts....otherwise I'd be somewhere in the Pacific Northwest by now. Other than that, the smog laws, remedial vehicle codes, gas prices, tax rates, real estate prices among other Cali-specific issues can suck it.

Even wastegate is in check.

The one thing about Cali, is that people speed everywhere. That makes things fun.

finally ordered that heat shield from urd. Ill let you know if that changes anything, if not then ill try that TRE MAF intake tube thingy. then hopefully I can take to power house. I just plan on doing that with a full exhaust, exhaust cam gears T stat.. just bolt on stuff..

PowerFab perhaps? Call and check with them and Kozmic Motorsports. Get an idea of what they say. Kozmic has always been easy to deal with for me, and anyone else that I have sent them. PowerFab is usually much more hesitant.

So I'm going to be picking up a newish Tacoma soon, trading in the prerunner for a 4x4 finally. I currently have a TRD S/C in my back seat (yay!) And plan on having the dealer install at the time of purchase...would you recommend a break in period or should I go ahead and add some more fun mods?

I was thinking to start, obviously Gauges..

URD's fuel pump dealio, with the deutsch works pump, a URD stealth 2.8 pulley and either the TRD CAI (the first gen one, not the newer, gayer one) or the AFE stage 2....or anything anyone else can chime in that works well. Also thinking headers as well, but I'd like to keep everything as close to smog-able as possible, or at least easily switched I/E CAI and stock box.

 

light weight pulleys (if you can find them) and an e-fan conversion 170* Tstat wouldn't hurt.

I could go on but you want to stay smog legal...

 

I've considered an E-Fan before, I looked at the dual fan and all that, but it looked like the shroud and fans would have to be custom mounted, and I'm not quite ready to deal with that headache yet lol
