2012-13 Tacoma/RAV4 Urgent Safety Recall. (Brake Actuator Reprogramming)

I guess I'll be waiting for my letter

 

I finally have time so I'm bringing my truck in this afternoon.

The service guy says it will take 30-45 minutes.

I've never had an issue but figure it's better to have it done.

I have had mine in the shop for a new driveshaft and radio. They ran my vin and told me no outstanding recalls. I have a 12 Sport also.

 

Brought my 2013 Sport in today. I was out in 45 minutes. Not a bad experience.

 

It's a hour 1/2 job. Had mine done already. All they do is flash a new program they said.

 

I checked the vins on Toyota.com owners group for my '12 taco,and the wifes '13 rav,and neither has a recall noted

 

free oil change & recall fix in & out in about 1 hour 15 min.

 

Finally had mine done today.

Had mine done on Saturday, took them 35 minutes.

 

Just checked the VIN on my 2013 TRD Sport ... no hit. Must be limited to Assembly location or maybe the time/date range that the chip was flashed with the information.

 

no recall letter/notice on my 13 trd sport to my house nor work nor dealer i get serviced at and i work for toyota.....

 

I forgot all about this recall. Need to stop by dealer and get it done.

 

got mine - gunna wait a bit - i hate my dealer.

 

TORRANCE, Calif., February 12, 2014 – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today announced that it is advising the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of plans to conduct voluntary safety recalls of approximately 700,000 Model Year 2010-2014 Prius vehicles and, combined, approximately 260,000 Model Year 2012 Toyota RAV4, 2012-2013 Toyota Tacoma, and 2012-2013 Lexus RX 350 vehicles sold in the United States to address two separate issues.

Toyota will update the motor/generator control ECU and hybrid control ECU software on certain Model Year 2010-2014 Prius vehicles

The software’s current settings could result in higher thermal stress in certain transistors, potentially causing them to become damaged. If this happens, various warning lights will illuminate and the vehicle can enter a failsafe mode. In rare circumstances, the hybrid system might shut down while the vehicle is being driven, resulting in the loss of power and the vehicle coming to a stop.

Toyota will update the skid control ECU software on certain 2012 Toyota RAV4, 2012-2013 Toyota Tacoma, and 2012-2013 Lexus RX 350 models in order to address an electronic circuit condition that can cause the Vehicle Stability Control, Anti-lock Brake, and Traction Control functions to intermittently turn off. If these systems are off, standard braking operation remains fully functional.

Toyota has received no reports of accidents or injuries associated with either condition.

As part of these recalls, owners of affected vehicles will receive a software update free of charge. Owners will be notified by first class mail when the software updates are available at their dealers.

time for a free oil change...a recall and TSB for spark knock noise...

 

I can now fully confirm the TSB for spark knock noise fixed the issue

 

The recall only affected trucks that had been built with a certain version of a transistor. Lots of trucks had another brand of component that was not affected by the recall.

 

Looked up my VIN on the Canadian website and US site. Nothing for my '12 sport.

Must be recalls on the trucks that were built on a friday or end of a rotation... lol
