She was going to come with me tomorrow as she is the sole owner on paper. I'm telling her to stay home. We're not signing anything...

They wouldn't tell us what or why, I can only guess. The deal was this.... 2009 Venza that was everything my wife wanted...color, AWD, V6...all the bells etc.... I looked it over best I could...but I'm no professional car inspector by far...I can spot obvious things. Its told to us that the car was a dealer demo to the finance manager at Andy mohr Toyota...had low miles and was immaculate. They had all the records....and a clean carfax. Now I do almost all the maintenance on any of my vehicles and will do most repairs taking into account the time vs $ thing..... So with that in mind when they offered an extended warranty on top of the certified I'm like yup...it was bumper to bumper. Basically I don't have to wrench on anything except the oil filter and drain plug until it hits 120k miles. So three months after the purchase I start bugging my wife to call Toyota and find out where her warranty paperwork is cause Andy mohr told us it's come in the mail. Toyota tells us....no warranty is offered cause the vehicle wasn't registers by the dealer as such and per their record, wasn't eligible. We make a complaint, Toyota investigated and within a day....they called us and said its been taken care of and paperwork will be here shortly. Now, fast forward a few weeks, we are leaving for Florida the next day and I am detailing the car for the trip. I come across over spray, stressed plastic, and the closer I look, very obvious signs the vehicles been in a rear end collision. There is no record of this accident. Pretty sure a dealer has the capability to keep that sort of thing under the radar. So, I can only assume that the reason it didn't qualify originally was because corporate new of the accident but the dealer tried to pull a fast one and sell it as such and hope it wouldn't be found out until either never....or it was too late on my end.

Def shady business there. The rear end would piss me off

Sounds like my 99 ranger off a small used car lot. Had aftermarket warranty. Engine started knocking like mad. Warranty company denied because dealer didn't file anything. Took like a month. Finally fixed, sold, and bought my 1st Taco

i would call them and tell them to come pick it up.The deal is off now. Pretty sure that you will get the original deal if you still want the vehicle.

Both parties signed where the contract states it cannot be changed unless agreed by both parties. If I came back saying you jacked the apr and I wanna change it back, you think they'd sign a new contract for me? Fuck no they wouldn't. The more I think about it the madder I get. There is no way I'm letting her sign a new contract tomorrow.

Fortunately Toyota corp made it right. Our extended warranty is Toyota program. Zero deductible, roadside assist, all that jazz. They ensured we received what we were told and Ultimatly what we paid for. They didn't hook me up...just got what I paid for...warranty wise.

Knowing what I know now and how shady dealers are (Andy Mohr Toyota)...if I was in your shoes, I'd take the car back just because something funny has to be going on. Something is the reason and it sure as shit isn't because of aftermarket rims. If that was the case they'd tell you to bring it in to switch out the rims n tires and be done....no new contracts, no new signatures......

From what taco47001 is saying, I would contact toyota corporate and make sure that they recieved paperwork on that vehicle and actually certified the vehicle. Keeps you covered incase the dealer is doing something shady.

I just read through the 160 pt inspection. Here is what is applicable under Exterior Condition And Appearance:

    Acceptable aftermarket items checked
    Removal of unacceptable aftermarket items

Sounds like either the wheels aren't a problem or they owe me a stock set. Either way, no reason to not be certified.

Wheels are not the issue. It's the dealer wanting to put more money in their pocket because they think they can fool you. Never let your guard down when buying a car from the dealer. They'll cheat and lie if they can do it.

Went to pick it up from dealership after interior/exterior treatment. Service wouldn't release the car to me because of the warranty issue. He told me they were going to re-inspect it for certification. Told me I could pick it up late afternoon or tomorrow. I said bs, it was certified when we bought it. I don't want a new warranty, I want what we purchased. Long story short, service writer goes to talk to his boss a few times. Finally comes back saying they just found the original certification paperwork and that I am all set. Certified and warrantied just like we bought. What a bunch of asshats. I cannot recommend Magnussens Toyota Palo Alto to anyone who wants a straightforward car buying experience...
