I just got my Tacoma back which was gone for 3 months due to the frame recall. I was wondering since I go to the beach a lot *off road trail* and live in a state with heavily treated roads for the winters does it make sense to line-ex my new frame? Will it give the new frame a few more years of life? Sorry if this is kind of a newbish question.

I was stationed in Alaska for 3 years and I took my car to the car wash at least once a month, even when it was 10 degrees outside and sprayed the undercarriage pretty good and I came out of it with 2 very small (about the size of a quarter) surface rust areas only.

I wouldn't lined it - rust can get behind that coating a it'll be bad when you notice it!

Go with spraying Fluid Film or Amsoil HD Heavy Metal Protection or Krown. You can do it yourself or pay a place. Apply in fall and if you want touch up areas around wheel wells if you want in spring or if you decide to pressure wash the underside.

I don't wash my undercarriage in winter after I treat it. In spring I'll touch up. I might touch up hitch area if I wash it in winter - I HATE rusty hitches.

Do that and you'll be good. It's really hard to keep leaf springs totally rust free because slush etc but you'll keep it well at bay if you follow the above.
