I'm looking at a white 2013 Tacoma Double Cab, Short Bed TRD Off Road 4x4 with Navigation/JBL/Tow Package. It has 20k miles, Katzkin Leather, 3M Clear Bra and is otherwise all stock in excellent condition, no accidents, one owner. No modifications otherwise.

I've got them down to ~$28.8k. They also have a matching Snug Top topper, but I'm not sure as to the price of it. This is a CA truck, so no rust. I was looking for a long bed, but those are few and far between around here it seems. I also wanted the E-locker and TRD Sports seem to be on the market about 6 to 1 over the OR package. Meaning the Off Road trucks are much harder to come by.

I bought a 95.5 Tacoma 4x4 V6 5-Speed Xtra Cab a couple of months ago, but am finding it difficult to deal with the lack of rear seat space. So I'm considering upgrading to a newer Tacoma and selling the 95.5 which is in excellent condition considering it's age.

E-locker only comes with the off-road package.

Yeah, I know. That's why I'm looking at a TRD Off Road truck.

That's what I paid for mine used in Oklahoma, with a few less miles. But I think I should have gotten mine dropped another $1-2k. Being in California, I would think that's a pretty good price.

Just as a reference. I purchased a 2012 Tacoma TRD OR with 18k miles on it last year about this time. It was a one owner vehicle and has all the items standard minus the leather seats and navigation. It does have the tow package and all that. Mine was certified pre-owned and has a great warranty on it still. I paid $29k out the door. From what I can tell you are looking at a very similar deal and I would call that a fair price at a dealer "if" it has a warranty.

If this is private party, good luck. Here in Oregon the dealers offer way better deals on the Tacoma than most private party guys. Its strange. The $29k would have only afforded me a 2008 TRD with 80k miles on it had I went private. Makes no sense so I just got me one from a dealer with lower miles and at a better price.

It's at a dealer but not a Toyota dealer. It has the remainder of the factory warranty and is not CPO. It was actually driven by the family who owns the dealership as their personal vehicle.

For reference, i got my 2013 DCSB TRD OR 4x4 v6 auto tow package with standard entune radio brand new (15 mi on her) for just under 31k before tax title n license.

id say 28k would be fair before TTL.

$2k more and it's a new one...if you finance you might get a better rate on a new vehicle too (not an expert - paid cash) also there is no long bed OR only the sport is available with 6'

I did not realize that the LB was not available with the OR package. Thanks for that.

It's more than $2k out here from what I've seen. Dealers are not willing to give up much off of MSRP. I've never had more trouble negotiating a vehicle than these freakin Tacoma's. I just helped my buddy buy a 2014 Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab TRD Off Road a few weeks ago. I got him about $2k off, but it was the last '14 they had on the lot.

I just found the same truck with a 6-Speed manual, so I'm looking into it now as well.

IMO stick with the auto... its far more reliable than the manual and better mpgs'

FYI you can get a "long bed" if you get an access cab TRD OR. You just cant get a DCLB trd or.

I just ordered a 15 TRD Sport DCLB for a tad under 33K OTD. Went through a broker. Saved a tick over $500 from what dealer would do, so yeah, not much bargaining. Dealer prices for used were in the 32-34 range, so it made sense to go new.

Is the 6-Speed problematic? I heard it was a bit hard to drive smoothly, but I had not seen posts related to failures. I like the driving experience of a manual, but had the 5-Speed auto in my old 05 4Runner Limited V8 and it was fine.

Yeah - that's the same truck I helped my buddy buy. He didn't want a DC, but I do since it gives me a bit of flexibility. I also saw an 04 Tacoma 4x4 TRD DC pop up locally, so I'm going to check that out as well.

bought the exact same truck in June, minus JBL, Nav, and Katskin. Same mileage. Paid 29K out the door. I thought and still think it was a great deal!

Did you try truecar.com, I got almost $3k below MSRP. Very easy and smooth process (I bought it in Chicago in 2013 though)

Hold off for a few months, OP. I paid roughly $200 more for mine...a new MY14 right off the lot.

May-June is a great time to buy, October-November - not so much.

Just do some searching on the 6 speed..... shifts are meh... and you are guaranteed to need to drop the trans to replace the throwout bearing multiple times throughout the life of the truck.

Are you a member of Costco? They have an auto program that might be worth looking into if you are not set on buying used. No idea what CA pricing through Costco would be but about 32.4k (4x4 TRD Sport) before TTL for a new one in my area.
I remember reading/hearing some credit unions help members with pricing as well.
