    Hello all,

As stated is anyone a CFA charterholder? I am currently studying for my level I exam for June of 2015.

Now I know its only a 20% pass rate but I am extremely motivated to get this.

Was curious if anyone has it and could be a mentor of sorts through this process and after.

    Thanks!

It is very challenging. I had three friends make it through various stages of the test, none actually made it all the way through to get the designation. From what I hear the first test is the easiest / most exciting. It is easy to study for something that interests you. It is all downhill from there. Depending on where you are at in your career when you start, and when you finish, the 4 year work experience requirement is a killer because it could mean starting over.

What do you want to do with it? Work at a mega corp in treasury? Investment banking?

    Per the CFA regs-

When you apply for regular CFA Institute membership, you will be asked to attest that your work experience meets the following qualifications. At least four years (48 months) of experience in: Evaluating or applying financial, economic, and/or statistical data as part of the investment decision-making process involving securities or similar investments (e.g., publicly traded and privately placed stocks, bonds, and mortgages and their derivatives; commodity-based derivatives and mutual funds; and other investment assets, such as real estate and commodities, if these are held as part of a diversified, securities-oriented investment portfolio). Supervising, directly or indirectly, persons who practice these activities. Teaching such activities. For each position submitted, at least 50% of your time should be spent directly involved in the investment decision-making process or producing a work product that informs or adds value to that process. Work must be full time and can be earned before, during, or after participation in the CFA Program. Managing your own investments or the investments of your family or your friends (without compensation) does not qualify.
