Can't say 100% for Texas since I am licensed for insurance in Ohio, but I do know that most Insurance companies will total the vehicle if it cost 70%-80% of what the vehicle is worth. Now that being said, I have heard of them totaling vehicles with less damage, especially during this time of year, (winter), with claims being higher. Also, 90% of the time when your air bags deploy, the total it

on avg, the driver side is about $700 and the passenger side is about $900 for the main airbags. this does not include the knee bag or the side roof bags. those cost less/more respectively.

now that's the just cost of the bags themselves. not the labor, replacement parts the bags destroy. in some cases, the airbag computer has to be replaced also, those are about $300-$500.

typically its on avg about $1k per airbag deployed cost. on a new Tacoma your looking at about 7 bags to replace on a full deployment, so about $7-10k upwards to $15k just on the bags themselves. add in body work, replacement parts for those and you probably pushing $20-25K.
