Yeah I contemplated leaving them clear as it did look pretty clean. I am okay with where it's at now though, the needles different bevels definitely made it tough to get a uniform look.

I was getting very close to getting a lift soon but we are going hard on the house viewing/buying right now so everything is on hold till we buy. Gonna push for a two car garage but I'll settle for at least one.

    this sound very familiar.

When I pulled my OEM rack, I had the same problem. Used a hammer, a bigger hammer, a bernzomatic, pb blaster, attempted to pry the shaft apart, but what finally ended up working was an air chisel. One little pop of that against the steering shaft and it came off. I was cursing the guy that did the write-up saying "it just falls out on its own weight" or something like that.

Oh, and I guess I wasn't subbed, so now I am.

Yeah same here, air hammer broke it loose. I still haven't gotten it fixed perfectly. Rack travel is pretty much even but my wheel is 1/4 turn off. Whatever I'll fix it when I can get to it.

Also finally found a solid solution to anyone who wants to run blue or green AC panel lights but do not want to use a new face plate (personally stock faceplate is clean and adding a white one mucks up the whole section)

Turns out since 99-02 ( I believe) 4 runners used green lights they had clear white faceplates and knobs.

    Plates side by side:

Old (Hardcore hot spots and not uniform color):

New (Uniform color, no hot spots)

Very happy with figuring out a solution to this.

Nice man! That is something on my to do list. Any idea why some were green and others blue? Specific model or something?

As far as I know all 99-03 taco's were actually orange, 95.5-97 were green. Mine are blue because I did the blue LED swap.

    Interesting. +1

I switched out to blue LEDs a while ago to match my headunit, and was never very happy with how they looked. Now I need to keep my eye out for 3rd gen 4runner to steal that out of.

Definitely. I just went on the t4r and hit up a dude who totaled his and got the panel and knobs for $30.

Also wheeled this weekend a bit. Some pics:

How do you like those TW tires? Any complaints or problems with them? Would you recommend them?

No complaints so far *knocks on wood* they are a loud tire, I will admit that but it doesn't bother me. Also the edge were the tread and casing meet is getting to be more apparent as I use them but no other complaints.

I would definitely recommend them if you need a good off road tire in a pinch. Can't decide if I would get another set after or go with mt/r's but that's just because I love mt/r's tread pattern.

It's been a while since I updated. Nothing new to the build really. Wheeled in December:

The main reason it's been slow is my wife and I bought our first home!

Garage build will happen soon. Been loving it so far.

Thanks guys! I'll keep that in mind Tyler! I actually know a decent amount of home improvement/construction from my father. He was a contractor for years before he stopped doing it mostly due to stress. He worked in NYC on sky scrapers before opening his own business.

Most of what I remember from him I learned middle school - high school so I am rusty and have already made a mistake or two but am re-learning. Electrical work is my favorite, I could do that all day.

Looking forward to the weekend after easter RC trip!

Made no progress on the truck but used to it help get the garage build going:
