Seek Outside 4 man tipi with wood burning stove. Stands about 6'3'' in the middle so if you are on the shorter side you can stand up and put pants on. Its a floorless design. I know many will hate that but being able to walk into the tent with boots and let the dog freely enter is awesome. You can opt for a floor if its that big of a deal. They also make a nest which surrounds half the tent with mosquito netting and gives you a floor for sleeping.

The wood stove is a portable titanium stove that puts out some serious heat.

The tent itself weights around 5lbs with everything needed for the pitch. With the stove you are looking at 6-6 1/2 lbs.

Size wise, you could fit 2 grown men, 2 large dogs, and the stove in here pretty easy as long as the dogs just lay down. Id say its a good size for a couple and a dog. Id get the 6 man if you want to move around in the tent freely and have plenty of space for cots.

I have camp chef 2 burner stoves I use all the time, they rock. I have an Explorer deluxe that I use on the back porch A LOT. If they want to take it camping or go out for a picnic, I would look at the Camp chef Weekender. The legs come off and it folds up. Both have the same 30,000 btu burners and are awesome. I also have the BBQ box, it also works well although it doesn't fit as nice on the weekender. It's really made for the Explorer.

For the camping on the salt flats I always use lag bolts 6-8". Drill them right in and out.

how are the temperature controls? able to get it low enough for pancakes?

i've been cruising through theblackfriday.com at all of hte ads...cabelas, dick's, etc. the sale at outdoorcooking is pretty good though. wonder if they'll have a better deal? decisions, decisions....the stove, grill box and bag would only be like 200 shipped right now. kinda doubt i'd beat that....

I'm in the market for a truck bed tent. Any suggestions or comments on this style of tent? Any pros or cons?

    Lisa,
I use the Explorer with griddle all the time with my little teardrop. No problems at all. We do a big camp for antelope season in WY every October. I'm always camp cook. I make eggs, bacon, pancakes, fajitas, etc. for 10+ peeps. It works great.

I bought mine off of Amazon several years ago. Free shipping over $100.
    http://www.amazon.com/Camp-Chef-Explorer-EX-60LW-2-Burner/dp/B0006VORDY

Locally, Runnings Supply has them for $109. But I'd have to pay sales tax. I think you can get those three items for less than $200 shipped going through Amazon.

Thanks for the info Bob
Amazon is cheaper on the stove and they have free shipping but outdoorcooking is throwing in the travel bag for free and their price on the bbq box is way better too.

Awesome, they'll love it. I use mine all the time on the back porch, especially in the summer.
