    Welcome!

Hmmm... I've got a 2010 Auto trans and I have never had that problem. :notsure:

Don't know what to tell you, could be the transmission itself? Someone else will be able to tell you better than me

Maintenance history? Did you check for transmission fluid leakage? No dipstick, just visual for leakage.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Never heard of anyone having a serious transmission failure in a Tacoma here, but here are some ideas that you might want to check.

Shift solenoid or pressure solenoid going bad would make it shift hard between gears. Only way to really find out what is going on here is to plug in a diagnostics and see if it throws any codes. Your local auto parts store should have them and they let you use them to scan for codes. Once you get the code, just take it back in and they will run the code and tell you what is wrong.

I had a similar problem with a hard shift/thunk when I would come to a stop with mine recently, that can usually be traced back to something simple like greasing the rear driveline yolk and all the u-joints under the truck while your at it.

Hope this helps and best of luck to you. Welcome to the forum!

Unless you are a mechanic or have experience working on newer cars you are not going to be able to fix much with your tranny. They are very expensive and in this case i recommend taking it in to a dealer or a good auto shop that you know works on Tacomas.

check the oil that will make the truck shake and can cause other weird issues

what year and miles is your truck?
