I can teach some stuff. This was my only hobby before I turned 16 haha

First off get a aquarium heater and just one of those cheap adhesive temperature gauges for fish tanks. I guarantee you that's why it's not active, trying to hibernate. Do NOT get a glass heater, turtles are very destructive and you don't want glass in your tank.

Next is to remove anything equal or smaller than it's head. They are like goats and will eat anything.

After that get a good DRY basking are set up and be sure to get a UVB bulb to keep it's shell strong and another regular household bulb so it can dry off quickly and keep it's temperature regulated when out of the water. Keep the bulbs 5"-10" from the basking area.

I highly recommend a filter although it's not needed. But cleaning out a fish tank every few days will get old. Whatever size the tank is, get a filter is about twice the required. So for a 10 gallon, get a 20 gallon filter. For a 20 gallon get a 40 gallon, and so on.

Also, try to feed the turtle variety foods. While the turtle pellets are a good staple, throw in a few shredded carrots, lettuce, cut up berries. Once it gets big enough you can buy some rosie red minnows from a pet store (NOT A BAIT STORE) and watch it chase them and eat them haha

Overall here are my recommendations for what you need:

    - Basking area
    - UVB Bulb
    - Household light bulb
    - Top Fin Power Filter 20(This was great on my 10 gallon)
    - Water heater

Random Amazon link because Petsmart's website went down haha

And a thermometer like this will do. Keep it around 73-78 degrees.

Turns out my dad is going to have a fire sale with most of the lawn and garden equipment in the garage. Some for cheap, some for free.

Today's probably not a good day to do it since it's thanksgiving, but we'll do it soon.

Probably next weekend. I'm going to get him to figure out what he's keeping, what's worth a little money, and what's for free.

Things like this will more than likely be free.

    - craftsman riding mower, the deck is shot
    - troybilt tiller that wouldn't start the last time
    - go kart
    - small trencher
    - misc lawn hand tools
    - seed spreader
    - pots

Things that will have a price tag

    - nice zero turn mower
    - chipper/shredder
    - hedge trimmer

Come down, be nice, make an offer and take the stuff home. They're moving from a 5 acre lot to a small house with a small yard in Fort Collins Colorado.

Most of us don't have kids, but there are a couple of bikes in the garage that need a lot of work, but are free.

    Peugeot bmx
    Small bmx
    Scooter

They're crusty, but with some love they could be ridden again.
