Hi TW, I know there are a lot of experts in here, so hoping you guys could help me. My sister has a 2007 ES350 with the keyless start stop. The problem she is having is that when she tries to turn off the car, all the electronics will turn off, but the engine will stay running. The problem is intermittent. She has had it at the dealer twice already for a total of about $1700, but it is still occurring intermittently. I asked her what the paperwork says on what they have done, but the car is of course at the dealer again, so the paperwork is in the car. Please advise if you have any suggestions.

Maybe check the park/neutral safety switch? I think you can only turn the car off in park or neutral, and if the switch isn't fully recognizing the position, it may not allow you to shutdown after pressing the button for the full 3 seconds.

    Just a guess.

    any other suggestions are welcome!

I'm still curious as to what the dealer has been working on, as soon as she gets to the car, i'll see what their invoice reads

I have access to the EWD, I'm just too lazy to pull them up right now. I will later though. P/N safety switch shouldn't be the issue, since if it was faulty, nothing at all should turn off (electronics or engine). In fact, I believe the cluster would say something like 'put in park before turning off.' There was an updated start/stop switch Lexus released, but it was for a 'crank and immediate stall' issue. It wouldn't hurt to give that a shot, but I'll pull up the wiring diagrams later and see if something catches my eye.

I'm assuming no codes were found in any of the modules?

Does the steering wheel lock when this occurs?

It looks like the start/stop switch feeds into the main body ECU, the main body ECU then sends the appropriate signals to all the necessary ECUs to turn on or off, activate, or whatever. The main body ECU is on the left side, behind the dash. Windshield replaced lately? Seem to happen more when it rains or after she goes through a car wash?

It's gonna be tough to diagnose with it being so intermittent.

hey there mmotley, that seems like it could be the problem, after a few days last week, they couldn't find anything wrong with it, and then they suggested resealing the windshield which showed leaking or condensation (it was replaced a few months ago) and now I just asked her, and she said she's speaking with the dealer tomorrow about the corrosion

hey there mmotley, that's what it turned out to be, I asked my sister for what the dealer supposedly did, for the almost total of $2K, but I guess she hasn't gotten around to it, they said there were going to clean up the corrosion, because she didn't want to spend all the money to replace the unit, so I guess it's working as it should for now, thanks again for everybody's imput
