Toy4life-here's on 47 year old man's prescription for keeping younger - eat lots of fish and fiber, always eat breakfast, walk often and do lots of pushups. The pushups are key. They make ya strong as hell (military) and keep your core relatively tuned. Do lots..they work what isn't being worked at the job!

Yeah, I could think of a couple simple changes right off the bat......quit smoking, stretching (I'm what I like to call anti-flexible), sleep more, and so on.

This may sound depressing, but I find everyday life to be a monotonous chore. <--if that makes me sound suicidal, don't worry, I'm not. I'm just not satisfied with alot of things in my life right now.

Buck up youngblood!! I can tell you, for me, at 28 everything was crappy or scary or somehow more than I could maintain. When I "listen" to your text, I "hear" a really smart individual. You've got that, Pal. You'll always land on your feet. As for the monotony- it's up to you to add the seasoning to the steak. You have passion-you're here because of your passion for that truck, right? Keep all your passions alive like plants--sorry if I'm gettin' too gushy---

;) Every good man deserves a good woman (and vice versa) to spend the rest of your life with. Makes everything more enjoyable. I found my soul mate 18 years ago (married for 12). :D

But then again....women....they'll drain your wallet, test your patience, and make you grow older much faster.

I'm not trying to push myself too hard with the fitness stuff...slow & steady. It's a bonus that I'm going regularly.... no matter how light of a work out I do. My job is physically demanding too - walking, up/down platforms, lifting, etc.... so I get a work out at work too. And my husband wonders how I'm able to fall sleep almost immediately when my head hits the pillow....

Life's full of ups & downs. Makes the *Up's* more enjoyable everytime you get there.

Gotta look on the bright side of the coin.....look at all the good things in life.

When you drive down a busy city and see homeless people on the streets and vision the starving people in other countries..... you gotta THANK GOD for virtually every aspect of your life!! Think positive!!!

Good advice Janster. I`m nowhere near rich money wise, however I need not look far to see all that I`m blessed with, and not a day goes by that I don`t thank God.

Taking a cue from Janster, try volunteering at a soup kitchen or meals on wheels, not only will you feel better about helping someone who truly needs it, but the benefit to you will be off the charts, if you don't find yourself crying on the way home I would be surprised. I work at a soup kitchen on the Holidays, best Holiday's ever, keep your chin up. :D

Awesome idea!! I've done little things here and there...collected food for food banks & such and have volunteered for toys-for-tot, but haven't got involved regularly. I need to do that....

You are absolutely right...it'll make ya feel good and get to know some fresh new people who probably have a different way of looking at the world.

You'all need to wipe the milk from behind your ears. Bunch of pups. I'll be 51 soon and it just gets better and better. Married 23 years with my best friend and soulmate, great friends, family, and pets that make us laugh and enjoy life. Financial and job security. And most important we have our health. We both go to the gym three times a week and ride bikes weather permitting. The years do fly by anymore. This just makes you appreciate even the small things more. People ask us if we have kids and my wife answers that she just has one and he is now 50 years old. I think turning 30 was harder on me than any other? You can always look back and say what if? Damn that's depressing! Done a lot, sane and crazy, and have plans to do a lot more yet. I have to agree with the above comments, and we thank God everyday for our blessings. Glad I was born a Leo, as I hope I've got a few of my 9 lives left. ;)

Mid Life Crisis...I'm 57 and almost 1/2. Several years ago I just couldn't handle doing my job of some 25 years and just about "had it" with my fascist employer. My two boys were grown, out of college and most of our bills were paid. My loving wife let me quit, turn my back on journalism and return to teaching part time. Did that for three years before her crisis hit. Well, we ended up selling our house in the city and moving to the woods, where I currently live. Oh, it's not without it's problems, but our lifestyle is slower. We were lucky...I even got to buy a pickup truck again! Nothing fancy, no mods, just to haul stuff from town.
We both are better, however she does miss the our boys. (The younger one is coming for Memorial Day weekend.)
A change in lifestyle and doing what I longed to do was a great help. Hey, check out the film American Beauty with Kevin Spacey!
    Life ages like fine wine...
