    Hey guys,
I'm about to buy Fuel D517 Krank, Im unsure of the offset. They offer 1, -12, and 20. -12 offers 4.5" backspacing and 1 offers 5" which is the recommended for my Icon Lift that Im going to put on. Any help with offset would be great. [IMG]

I'm planning on purchasing the same wheels for my 08 Prerunner with a 3" lift. I plan on going with the 285/65/18 trail grapplers. I cant figure out the whole backspacing offset thing. I clicked the link that nextfriday posted and played around with the #'s but it doesnt help me. I just want to know which backspacing offset will work best on my truck. I'll try and call fuel tomorrow i guess

go with -12 offset on a 17x9 wheel this will give you approx. 1-1/2" clearance between the stock UCA and the tire...

Just a simple explanation of it all.

Backspace is the measurement from the mounting surface of the wheel (part of wheel that mounts to hub of truck) to the back lip of the wheel. So 4.5" back space would be 4.5" from mounting surface to outer lip of wheel.

Offset is the measurement from dead center of the wheel to where the acutual mounting surface is located. So a 0mm offset wheel would have the mounting surface dead center of the wheel. A negative , or -12 mm offset wheel will have the mounting surface closer to the back of the wheel. Giving it a deep dish look, or a wide stance when mounted.

A positive, or +12mm offset would put the mounting surface closer to the face of the wheel. They would have less of a wide stance look. Factory wheels have positive offset.

Makes Sense, But Still doesn't explain whats the better option in selecting offsets. In terms of whats better, and not what looks good.

example: I'm installing Coilover lift kit 3". Aftermarket UCA. Problem is selecting wheel offset to minimize rubbing and issues.

It's more than just selecting wheel offset. The biggest factor is tire size. For example a 265/75-16 wont rub without any lift on a factory wheel. But on a wheel with 0 offset it will rub the without a lift.

Once you know your tire size, then someone with experience with that tire will have to give you advice.

Thanks Brother. I'm going to go with Toyo R/T 285/70/17 tire.

    then you'll need a 17x9 wheel with -12 offset :D
