    Hi Everyone,

I'm going to put an In-dash stereo/navigation/bluetooth in my 2010 TRD Off-Road. I'm going with a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX. Planning on having Best Buy install it.

My question is what is the best mounting kit to get with it? I've seen that different companies make them in different colors. Which ones look best and fit the best?

If you have pictures of ones that you've had installed that would be great!

Based on another thread here, I went went the Scocshe over the Metra.

I got it in Piano Black for my 2015.

However, my local nice stereo store ONLY installs the metra kits. So they must be ok too.

DON'T GET METRA! They are utter crap. I just got in my new scocshe one. I'm gonna install it this weekend.

The metra looks uglier and wont stay put.

Thanks everyone! Going with the Scosche.

I hear you also need an adapter for the steering wheel controls to work?

    I bounce it offa stuff.
 i'm looking at a similar setup, either the NEX series or the 4600. Just got my scosche 2 din kit in. Feels solid and doesn't look like absolute hell.

I have had a ton of experience with all types of the scosche and metra kits for these trucks and practically every other car out there. It's a toss up between the brands for most vehicles. Sometimes the scosche kit is better, sometimes the metra is better. In the case of our trucks the scosche kits are superior. They are made of a more rigid ABS plastic.

Just be sure to use the metal supports off of your factory head unit.

I installed the Pioneer NEX 4000 yesterday in a 2014 TRD. I used the Metra dash kit. What a piece of trash. The HU will not open due to interference with the Metra dash kit. I tried to use the metal supports from the Toyota factory radio but the unit sat too deep inside. I could not move the metal supports forward enough (due to hole alignment) to get the entire HU to stick out far enough. The Pioneer NEX 4000 looks great except I am going to have to replace the dash kit. Has anyone been able to use the Toyota metal supports on the Pioneer NEX series install with out issues. Maybe have to drill additional holes in the metal Toyota support brackets to line up with the holes on the side of the Pioneer HU?

Anyone have a picture of a double din black dash kit installed. Instead of the silver metra or Schoche

This is the Metra Black-textured kit from Crutchfield . . .

The lighting makes it look kinda blue in the first picture, but in reality it looks just like the factory mounting from the OEM radio.

Hey that actually looks pretty decent. I went ahead with the silver though. which is fine. Thanks for the reply.
