So I'm playing with the little "point and shoot" I got for black friday and I just love the noise on this thing. It's beautiful. This is cropped roughly 1:2 from the original and at ISO 6400 with NR only set to 8. :D enjoy!

Perfect price point and form factor for a beginner. Nice find.

Not sure I agree... It is the Indian not the arrow and you do a great job! I do really like your new gear though LOL :)

Congrats, I'm jealous! Figured by now I would have about the same setup on the deck (minus umbrella) for hummingbirds but never happened this summer. Can't wait to see what you do with them.

X2, well done Ben! I have to admit that I'm already tired of the cold and snow and like the green much better though

Flash setups are beyond me, I may be PMing you one day Murph for some insight! That umbrella setup sure looks fancy :)

Getting some more good results from the new cam. Had a great hike today, definitely noticed the extra weight walking around with it!

X2! Awesome especially the lighting and sunburst without flare which I struggle with. Really like it a lot!

Thanks guys. I was surprised that shot didn't flare more. Something I don't know much about is where flaring comes from and what elements of the shot or lens help or hurt it.

It's the light on each individual element. Different lens coatings help mitigate it. You can try and shade the lens with a lens hood or by holding your hand up and out of the way at the point of origin. If the flare comes from the upper right for example, put your hand above the lens-right above the flare. Move your hand around till it goes away.

Some people like lens flare and use it creatively.

Yea I don't particularly mind it but it's never taken away from a shot for me. I do have hoods on my lenses and I have noticed it less with the new gear. If the sun is in the frame though does a hood do anything?

Nice shot, man! I can't help but wonder what a little lower perspective may have looked like as well. Are these nice young ladies familia?

it was just one of those mom daughter moments, whilst posing for xmas xards. I'm not too privvy/comfy on doing posed shoots, but this shoot came out all right. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me, if I want to progress in doing posed shoots.

    no, not familia

I don't like (read: am not good at) posing people either ha I like shooting candid. I'm doing a shoot on Thursday with a pair of sisters for their music/blog/christmas photo needs and I'm not looking forward to posing them... I always hope for people who are really animated and act natural in front of a camera to help me out ha working on it...
