Aready got a rock chip in my windshield of my '14. The impact looks like a small circle with a pit. There is a short half inch run on the top (but goes off the edge) and a 2 inch run on the bottom. I called the window guy that my dealer recommended/uses. But the window guy says it is a waste of time and money to 'fuse' a chip. They don't do it anymore because they can't guarentee it won't continue to run anyway.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks. - David

If it has a crack it will only get worse no matter what you do.

I've used safelite glass repair before on my wifes truck. It was directly in the line of sight. They came to our home, took a half hour, did a solid job of filling it. Its still a touch noticeable but much better. Would recommend going that route especially since most insurers provide this service free (granted windshield replacement is free as well in most states, but I rather stick with an OEM shield vs a replacement).

Fill it, never heard of it not staying. What the worse case, it doesnt take and you have a new windshield put in?

I went to Wal-Mart and got a Rain-X WindshieldRepairKit for under 10 dollars and fixed mine. It worked fine for me. You might want to try it.

I'm on my 3rd windshield in my 2011. It's pretty much the way it is.

I've heard of using super glue. I let mine go in the truck and it finally migrated it's way for me to get a rejection sticker on my safety inspection. I don't know how he saw it but this Va state trooper came out of nowhere and stopped me for it. No ticket as I was on my way to repair.

Got my first one a couple of days ago. Went to a auto glass store, and they did the resin treatment. When they finished, it was smooth; however, the repair looked like a small white cloud on the windshield.

I mention it, and another guy that worked there broke out some brown-colored polish, and in a couple of seconds, the white cloud turned into a small speck of slightly darker tint on the windscreen. Amazing.

Any ideas as to what the guy used?
