Just wondering how bad would resale be on a double cab tacoma with a salvage title? $4k less then a clean title truck of same build? more or less?

60-70% of similar trucks with clean titles, IMO. Of course its worth whatever someone pays, but that's what I think.

Some of it depends on the age of it too IMO.
If a new truck is totaled then it required significant damage to do so. If the truck is older it may have been relatively minor damage that caused the salvage title. If the truck was nearly new and salvaged, i'd run the other way. Just so much that could have been damaged at that point.
As for the sale price, I would agree with PeeRunner, probably around 2/3 of a clean title truck. Worth $20k clean, now I probably wouldnt touch a similar salvage title truck for less than $14k

    enough to go over stuff
Your issue is financing. People cant buy the truck with financing so you have a smaller market you can sell the truck too. Also depends on why it was totaled.

most banks will not finance a salvaged title vehicle so, something to think about and, same with used car lots. Hardly any of them will give you any money for it.

All my Toyota trucks are salvage titled. I don't give a shit. I bought them wrecked and put them pack together and drive them daily.

A gen 1 Tacoma with 200k on the clock is going to sell for the same as a clear truck with the same miles.

The main problem is financing. I get around that by just taking out signature loans. The interest is higher, but its a non issue because i pay off the loans early.

To give you an example of the kind of prices I pay:

'04 TRD tacoma with 60k-$5500. I'll have around 3k into parts and labor when done.

'08 Tundra with 40k miles, 5.7 DC, 4 x 4 $12500. that took $3k to make like new as well.

Salvaged vehicles have saved me a huge amount of money over the last 20 years.

If I didn't enjoy building the wrecks so much, I would have no issue buying a salvaged titled vehicle. A good estimate is 15% less when buying toyota's. Domestic vehicles are much more discounted.
