Loud ticking

    I always had a pretty quiet engine but this morning I noticed a loud ticking noise. Upon opening the hood it was not difficult to locate the sound as coming from the evaporate canister purge valve as once I removed the electrical connection the noise ceased. I notice other people have complained about this loud ticking but I was wondering why I now am noticing this after 115000 miles as Ossis before my engine was previously very quiet. I guess my question is has the valve gone bad even though it appears that the clicking sound is normal . What could have changed? Tia
