So i went to the toyota dealership and had my 01 tacoma's frame inspected. they didnt let me drive off the lot it had gotten that bad. they called me a few days later and said they were going to replace the frame. They have been very hush hush about the whole process. Any info from you guys would be awesome. such as what else they are replacing etc.

Have you tried the "search" feature? There has been an abundance of posts on the rusted frame issue.

Go to the dealer, speak to the service manager and ask them to provide you with an itemized list of what they are going to do and what parts they are going to replace. This is after-all YOUR truck and regardless of whether it's a covered repair or not, you should know what they are doing to your vehicle. Take plenty of pictures of your truck if the body is in decent condition, so that if they cause any damage, you have documented proof that it wasn't that way upon entering the dealership for service. It's a good time to install new things like lower control arms, shocks, leafs (sometimes covered), etc.

Glad your getting it replaced, is the truck a transplant from a northern climate? Curious how the frame is that bad if it's a southern rig. Welcome to Tacomaworld!

It was originaly from penn and i bought it in north carolina with 76000 on it. The frame wasnt bad when i bought it but ive put that truck places it probably shouldnt have been. It progressively has gotten worse. Im a little apprehensive about the process just because the dealership in auburn has only done one replacement the whole time its been open and it was on a sequoia. Is there some specifics i should look for? Also mods i could go ahead and do that wouldnt be more labor costs.

New frame, new lca, new pb cables, new rear springs, brake lines, fuel lines. Brake fluid replaced, p/s fluid replaced, a/c recharged, coolant replaced, four wheel alignment. I also had them replace engine/ trans mounts, clutch, t/o, pilot bearing complete front strut assy. (TRD version) and factory rear Bilstein shocks, and the fuel filter since it's a PIA to do. Maybe have them replace the sway bar and rack bushings while they are there, I had already done mine. The only labor charge to me was for the clutch set up (one hour), of course I had to pay for the mounts, clutch and suspension parts. When I got the truck home, I pulled the bed and coated the inside and outside of the frame with Eastwoods wax spray.

You shouldn't be apprehensive about the process at all. Only reason they've only done one frame replacement is because you're in the south, all other frames native to this area shouldn't need a new frame and probably wouldn't even fall under a replacement category.
Because the truck is originally from the north and you brought it down they don't have a choice.
