Situation: Rats invaded parked 2007 Tacoma Prerunner 4.0L engine bay.

Observations: Engine ran; trip to Advance Auto revealed two codes:
    P0020 Intake (A) Camshaft Position Actuation Circuit/open (Bank 2)
P0348 Camshaft Position Sensor (A) Circuit High Input (Bank 2)

Examination revealed four wires chewed apart; two are blue, with no tracer.
These two blue wires + a yellow wire, go to the sensor circled in pic.

Assumptions: I'm guessing this is the driver's side cam position sensor, and I'm concerned that the unmarked blue pair will cause problems if I don't connect them correctly.

Anyone familiar with the cam sensor function?

Also as part of my HG install, I became very familiar with the inside of this motor. You are correct, that sensor is for the cams, really the VVTi units. In the below you can see where the sensor is before removal of the timing cover, and then without the cover.

So, your issue is that the wires are identical in color and you are unsure which ends go together?

Yes--the leads on the driver's side are blue, blue and yellow, with no distinguising tracers on the blue leads.

I managed to scare up a generic diagram of the sensors on a 2006 1GR. The diagram showed the passenger side sensor with blue, green and red leads, with the single blue lead going to ECU ground.

The diagram showed the driver side sensor with two blue leads, with one going to ECU ground.

The diagram lead colors matched the sensors on my 07 engine, so I checked which chewed blue driver-side lead showed continuity with the blue passenger side lead...and connected that to pin #3 on the plug.

I got everything soldered, taped & loomed up. Will reinstall everything tomorrow and give it a whirl.
