I have a 3 inch lift on my 03 taco was thinking about getting some 33X12.5R17LT tires for it. Will there be any rubbing?? Or will it even fit? I'll be going off roading a bit because of hunting so I will be using these a lot. I'll appreciate the help thanks!

    Yes. They will rub.

Do some cutting and hammering and you'll be fine

You'll have to cut the inner fender plastic and the flairs a bit at the base of the wheel well. You'll also have to cut or hammer the pinch weld. Tons of photos and info on this as many many people run 33s.

You'll also want to make sure your new rims have enough backspacing. Id go for 3.75 or 3.5 on an 8'' wide rim.

Theyll rub fur sure! Behind the tire on the wheel well there will be a raised area of thin plastic. Cut that, then behind that you will see a pinch weld sticking out a good half inch or so. Bend, hammer or do what u need to to get that thing folded over! That's its it, you'll have 33's on there in no time!

Trying to ressurect this thread for more stupid questions... I have a 96 SR5 that I plan to put a 3" lift on and simultaneously go to Duratrac 33x12.5s. Tire rack seems to indicate that an 8" rim is too small for these. I think I'm seeing that they recommend a 10" rim. Would this increase the rubbing? Backspacing needed?

No you can run an 8" rim just fine. It's the minimum size for 12.5" wide tires.

10" wide rims make stuff wide. You'll want 3.5-3" bs with those and you'll have to trim a bit more off the pinch weld area.

Yeah a ten inch rim is wide fur our trucks! An eight inch rim will work just fine for that 12.50 tire. Just stick with an 8"er, you'll be good to go and have less fitment issues.
