I have one, the lack of low end torque would make truck people scream. It's basically the same output / ratings as the new colorado. It doesn't get "moving" until over 3500rpm... where the 4.0 is more than happy putting around at 2000rpm. i would not like my 3.5 in my tacoma.

Toyota would need to add direct injection to be competative with Nissan/Ford/GM.

Toyota only needs to put a bow on a bow filled with dog crap to remain competitive with Nissan. Those boys have ignored the Frontier even worse than Toyota and the Tacoma.

Judging from the leaked tailgate shot, looks like they're styling it as a baby Tundra. Could be nice. Could also be ugly.

    Suspense is killing me.

They have surpased the Tacoma in the engine compartment for some time (which wasn't hard to do) :notsure: 261/288, dual VVT 4.0L...

Toyota won the last small truck battle but this time it won't be as easy.

Have you driven one for an extended period? The mpg is worse and the numbers are unnoticeable.

Sometimes a spec sheet doesn't tell the whole story.

There's also construction issues. Sure the Tacoma feels cheap and dated but the Frontier, imo, feels like a much cheaper truck. I wrestled for a year before buying. I may not have been right, but I've been happy.

It also sounds and feels like a tow truck motor, the truck is slower than the toyota, and gets worse MPG. I'll keep my 1GR.

I think it's pretty amazing that Honda has been quiet. They had that redesigned Ridgeline photo and then not even a peep of what's to come.

Something tells me they were expecting a Chicago reveal for Toyota and a traditional September sales start date. It will be interesting to see how quickly they can respond with all the issues they are having in Celaya. They might've forgotten all about Alabama and the new Ridgeline for the time being.

It's a mule, but even when that surfaced I has doubts it was indicative of the final design.

Toyota went to great lengths recently to "butch up" the Tundra which meant dropping some of its bubbly exterior cues for something a little more defined.

There's little chance Toyota would go the opposite way with the Tacoma imo.

Inside source on the Ridgeline forum says the Gen 2 Ridgeline will be revealed in Dec. 2015 and on sale around March 2016 as a MY 2017. The only possible delay is if the all new Honda Pilot is a big seller, then they will have to meet that demand first. Gen 2 Ridgeline is a go.

for my needs, the Honda would be my first choice, as I don't want a work truck. I'm after a leisure truck with a car like ride, and the Ridgeline's in bed trunk and 2 way tailgate is a big feature for me, but I will be running to my local Toyota dealer to check out the new Taco and see if it fits in my garage, as the current one just fits with 2" to spare.

I like the GM twins, but for long term ownership (15 years) I don't trust GM's long term reliability. Last time I owned GM, I swore never again.

I use to own one. The Ridgeline is a perfectly fine vehicle for its uses. It's part time awd is geared for inclement weather as opposed to offroad. It uses clutched differentials to send different amounts of power to different tires. It works great on icy and snowy roads.

The interior is roomy and and comfy. Powered rear sliding window is convienent. The in bed trunk, and tailgate is useful.

It definitely has a car like ride and handles well.

Where I had issues were I do a lot of mountain driving and the offroad capabilities are very limited on the ridgeline. It would bottom out on washed out access roads and have a hard time getting around. There is no 4wd switch to make it constant 4wd. It's full time front wheel drive and kicks in the rears when it senses wheel slippage.

I also need a long bed for my uses. Again, it's a decent vehicle for those that don't go off paved roads.
