Been looking around here for a few months and finally joined Tacoma World.
My wife and I have been thinking about getting a pickup truck for over a year now and we have finally decided on the Tacoma. We looked at the Blue Oval F-150, and the offerings from Chevy and Ram and we were almost ready to choose the Toyota Tundra but after thinking things over we decided we really do not need a full size truck. So, after a few months we took another look at the Tacoma. Just to be sure, we also checked out the Nissan Frontier but we kept coming back to the Tacoma. The Tacoma just feels right and it will be plenty of truck for what we need to do.

Currently, we have a 2009 Nissan Cube - the "50-mile round trip to work and home" vehicle. With retirement quickly approaching, we are thinking about selling the Cube. We also have a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid which is what we have been using to tow our 2007 Casita 17SD travel trailer and it does a fine job of towing our little trailer. Problem is we need just a little more room to bring along more "stuff" when out camping. With two dogs, the Highlander gets full quick and the CAT scales show we are close to the 3500lb towing limit of the Highlander. With a Tacoma, we would gain more room for "stuff" and be well below the towing limits of the vehicle. Also, for the couple of times we want to take both the trailer and our Polaris RZR 800, we could drive both vehicles (Tacoma towing the Casita and Highlander towing the RZR). That won't happen often and when it does, most places we would go are only a few hours away at most.
For what we need, it looks like the four-door Double Cab SR5 4X4 with V6 tow package, SR5 extra value package with options and the Entune Premium Audio with navigation should work just fine. Would also like the 16" alloy wheels and chrome tube steps. We feel that would be something we would both be happy with for many years. Looking for a white one with sand beige interior. Going to have to do a couple more test drives to make sure we will be happy with the SR5. Really don't think we need the TRD package.

Hope to learn a lot more about the Tacoma from all of you folks here at Tacoma World! There is a truck just like we want at a local dealer but we haven't gone in to make a deal yet. It has the graphite interior but we really want sand beige which seems to be rare.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll come up with a lot of questions to ask in the appropriate forums.

Hope to be driving a new Tacoma in a few months.
