I have 2 sets of these for when my Clazzio seat covers arrive. Gonna put 2 switches in the back for the kids to have heated and seats, and 2 up front. Where did people find the 12 volt power supply for the back to power up? And what about the front as well?

    For the back seats:
Put the switches on the back side of the center console. Run the wires from the console under the carpet to the seats.

    For power:
You can go under the console all the way to the battery if you want to while keeping the wires hidden.

Just remember, if you do go strait to the battery, it can be switched "ON" even without the key or you being in the vehicle. This may lead to a dead battery if left on accidentally for extended periods.

No I figure I will tap into the cigarette slots at the bottom of the dash. Those are 12v and work only when the ignition is on/off

I would not run 4 seat heaters off the cig lighter circuit. Almost guaranteed to blow a fuse. My seat heaters are fused at 10 amps each, not sure about the Clazzio ones.

The best thing would be to run 2 14 gauge cables back from the battery, one for the front seats, one for the rear. Use inline fuse holders to install 20 amp fuse in each line, as close to the battery as possible. Then install 2 relays like these near the fuse box. Finally, purchase an add-a-fuse and, using a multimeter, test for and install the add-a-fuse into an open fuse slot that reads 12v when the ignition is on, and 0 when the ignition is off.

The wire from add-a-fuse will go to pin 86 on the relays (split it into 2 wires), the 2 wires from the battery will go to pin 30 (one for each relay), the seat heater's positive wires will go to pin 87 on the relays (front seats onto one relay, back seats onto the other), and pin 85 on the relays will need to be grounded.

The extra wiring is worth it because now you're drawing straight from your battery, but the relay will only turn on the power to the seat heaters when the ignition is on. I did this in my truck and it took maybe an extra hour, and that included adding extra wiring to make the seat heaters automatically turn on with my remote start.

The things you show with the like these highlight. My seat heaters come with a little box like that?

No, but they are less than $10 at any auto parts store. Just ask for 4-pin relays rated for 20 amps minimum. If they only have 5 pin relays, those are fine, just ignore the 5th pin.

My seat came with those I meant to say. I have 4 of those little boxes, plus the switches to turn them on. Says to find a 12v power supply to make them work

Gotcha. Yes, mine did too. You'll want to leave those just as they are- they are used to enable the "low" setting on the seat heaters. The method of wiring that I described in my post will require 2 additional relays.

You could try to avoid the trouble and wire them to the cig lighters. But if I were you, I would do it temporarily at first so that you can test it and see if a fuse blows. If the two cig lighters are fused separately, you MIGHT be fine, but it's worth your time to test it first and see.

I thought all they needed was a 12volt power supply that turns on and off with ignition for them to work? And do you have a link to the other 2 relays you mention?

The issue with the cigarette lighter idea is, at least in my '07, those are only fused at 10 amps. Supposedly my seat heaters draw 10 amps EACH, and I can't imagine that yours are much different. This means I could technically run one seat heater on each cigarette lighter, but definitely not more than that.

However, you can try it first and see what happens. But I'll be surprised if you don't blow a fuse.

Where would those plug into though? And I would need just 2 of those relays? Can anyone else chime in on this and tell me if this is the way it has to be done. Or as long as it is hooked into the 12v power supply I will be fine.
