I want an exhaust so bad but don't know wat to get. and I don't know wat I can get away with in Va. what systems have others been running around here and any recommendations? i love the sound of a good exhaust system. which cat back system is the loudest out of magnaflow, flowmaster, Gibson, and other name brands like those.

i like flowmasters but everyone says there illegal here?

You take the chance of getting a ticket with anything other than stock, like in Manassas, they don't like anything with a low rumble. Two friends with Miatas got tickets from a State Trooper one time when we were coming across the mountain on Route 211 after a fun drive, I was between them and the trooper didn't even look at me. Their exhaust weren't loud, just a little more rumble. You kind of take your chances with exhaust changes.

    I bounce it offa stuff.
Had a Gibson on my old F150. They are really quiet. You won't even know its an aftermarket exhaust. I have an Aero 2525xl with on my Taco now and its not nearly the loudest setup I've heard in VA. Decent low notes for a V6, no real highway drone, and it isn't loud enough to make cops turn their heads. I hear magnaflow is similar but I'm not sure that I've heard one person. In general, Flowmaster will be the loudest of the bunch, with some models being much louder than others.

What I want to know is why inspectors, police or anyone else would make a big deal about how loud a truck exhaust is when you see (and hear) motorcycles that are loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage. You could probably just chop off the exhaust of our trucks right before the muffler it would still not be as loud as some of the Harleys on the road.
