Hey guys. Last night after it rained I noticed something that had me on edge. The pavement was wet, but not enough to hydro or anything. I had to drive really slowly because no matter WHAT, I kept sliding all over the damn place! I was not taking off too quickly when lights turned green, but I still lost traction and was wandering all over the lane until I could get my traction back. I had traction control ON, so that was not the issue. At one point at a left turn in an intersection, I completely lost traction and spun sideways. The TC beeped and helped me get straight again. I was NOT going fast through the intersection at all.

I have 265/75/16 GY Wrangler Authorities that have around 2k miles on them I believe. Just installed them in August. What could be the problem? I was not experiencing this before... In fact a couple weeks ago, I raced my friend in the rain going around 55mph with no problems at all.

I'd really like to know what the hell is causing this... My friends think I'm an awful driver. HELP!

Biggest problem I found was the fact that our rear ends are so light. I used to have my rear end slide out all the time whenever there was water on the ground and it was pretty dangerous. Ended up switching over to A/T vs a street tire and adding weight to the bed and it seems to help a lot. I don't carry much weight but a 35 with a rim helps out.

Thank you. The GY's are A/T's, which is why I'm baffled. The light rear makes sense, and come to think of it it was definitely the rear that was causing problems. I will be installing a full size spare tire mount in the bed soon - hopefully that will help.

When I still had my street tires the rear would slide out on the smallest of hills, then when I would go riding I would throw 2 dirt bikes in the bed and the sliding out would stop. Nothing really in the rear for weight, all of it sits in the front.

I tried to get loose with my nearly finished KOs last rain and it was very hard to do. Maybe those tires just suck in the rain? Was it the first rain of the season? That is always more slippery.

Maybe just your tires? I can't get my tires to break loose in the rain at all, first rain or flooded street.

Not the first rain! They very well could suck in the rain... They are the trusty Walmart exclusive Goodyears...

It probably is my tires honestly. We'll see one I get that extra weight in the back... But I'm betting on the tires. I don't have the money for new tires right now, and I'm hating this rain driving!

What air pressure are you running? Could be too high.

I've been thinking they might be too high even before this whole thing started. DT pumped em' up to around 48-50 PSI I believe. Haven't really needed to come down yet because I don't really wheel too often in my rig. More of a daily commuter/hey girls, look at my truck.

For normal driving run the air pressure on your door sticker. This should be about 35 psi.
