OK I read the manual on the 2h and 4h but my question is can I turn on my truck while being on 4h and turn it off while being on 4h or do I have to be driving in order for me to switch to 4h from 2h? Thank you

    Welcome

You can leave it in 4H when you turn it off, it doesn't matter.

Mine will usually switch in Park, sometimes I have to go to D and start rolling before it will kick out or in. No real rhyme or reason to it.

As long as the truck is running you can flip the switch, it's up to the actuator to turn it off or on though. Sometimes it goes off while in park, sometimes I have to move slightly.

Really, just don't engage 4 HI if your back wheels are spinning faster than the fronts--stop them all first if you're stuck. Also, I'd avoid engaging it while you're under heavy throttle or going around a sharp corner. I try to let off the throttle before I switch mine to 4 HI, it's always smoother that way.

Otherwise, you're not going to hurt it.
