So this past month I've been hearing a clank noise sometimes when I brake. Doesn't happen all the time so I was curious about it. Called the dealer and they told me most likely the brakes are wearing down. He said the calipers adjust themselves now and then especially when you switch from reverse to drive.

I've also noticed my front end vibe is getting stronger and some slight tire scouping. I don't recall hitting any massive bumps that would have thrown my alignment off. Just odd that both of these started to happen at the same time. So I'm curious if anybody else has heard this clank when their brakes start to wear down.

I know dealers charge an arm and a leg for service so any recommendations for getting this work done cheaper in Phoenix AZ?

    Thanks

It's Prob the brake pads slapping in the calipers. Normal. You can add the spring and stop them from making the slap sound. Do a search it's common.

Most all time the "clank" from the brakes will be right after you go from Reverse to Drive, or Drive to Reverse. The brakes "free float" for lack of a better term in the caliper. The noise has to do with the position the pads are in at the time you hit the brake. This is normal.

But if you hear it multiple times while braking in ONE direction you should look into the problem further.

I have found the degree at which the brakes are worn to have no effect on the noise being heard more often or any louder. So I can't say that worn brakes cause this issue.

My 06' has been doing it since it was new. It's just the pads shifting forward until the hit the stop. 90,000 miles and nothing has changed
