I am curious to see if it would be worth the investment into one of the aftermarket gas caps with key locks that Summit Racing has been selling online for Tacomas. I would like to purchase one of these gas caps but before I do, I was just curious to see if these caps were worth the investment.
    Thanks

No locking gas cap is worth a shit. Virtually all can be easily opened with 8" channel locks.
Furthermore, you don't want your fuel lines cut to access your gas. Let them have it without damage to your Taco.

That might happen if your vehicle is the only one around for the gas poachers but I tend to believe it would just have them move on to an easier target

These days, A locking gas cap really only prevents someone from dumping something into the tank. On almost all new cars/trucks, you can't siphon gas anymore through the gas filler as they have a rollover valve in the filler tube that keeps the fuel in the tank if you flip 'er over. Although, I haven't tried it on the tacoma - I'd guess it also has one. That's why you hear fuel thieves poking a hole in the tank when they steal fuel...

Okay so I see that there are some mixed feelings about it. I also was scrolling down on the Summit Racing website and noticed some pretty sweet-looking regular gas caps that Stant makes for only like 4 bucks. And by the way, thanks for bringing up the company name. I totally had missed out on who made those. If any of you all could shoot me any knowledge you have of the regular gas caps, I'm all ears, for now I'll hold off since I am seeing more negative replies than positive on the locking gas caps.

That's not something that never happens! When I was a kid, my cousin took a bag of sugar out on Halloween to dump in the tank of the neighborhood grouch!
