FWIW I ran my rears for 28,000 miles without boots. And I wheeled them harrrd. I just had icon rebuild my rears and they recommended the boots with the rebuild so I did it. I think it looks stupid but probably helps with protection. I have the 2.0 RR vS series

I don't have anything. Don't like the looks of the boots. I've heard stories of people using them and having the boots trap water which just rusted the rod. Fuck that

I've heard the same as above. Honestly, if they needed boots Icon would have supplied them on there.

If anything is going to hit hard enough to hurt the shaft, a soft rubber (and thin) boot isn't going to offer much protection. Ive run off road shocks in the past with boots, and found they don't do much. Some have holes in the bottom, so as to not trap water, but they all seemed to hold dust/dirt in. Since, Ive removed any boots that come on the shocks, and have been fine.

I just had to have a shaft replaced after just 10k on a 2.0 due to leaking from pitting. Looks like I will have to do the other one soon as well, it is starting to weep a bit.
