I recently installed my Westin winch mount and there is an available loop. I decide against a full steel bumper due to cost and weight. Winch is ready to install but is been raining. I got a great deal on everything, under $600. I decide on a winch because many times that I wheel the truck no one usually has one and I travel severe winter roads on a regular basis in new England and must get to work, hazardous duty employee. What do you guys think of the loop, it's an accessory to the mounting plate. I'm not sure about it.

Took the loop off, didn't look right. Winch installed and ready.

I prefer the look without the loop too but is it strong enough that if you left it on it would protect your rad and keep you drivable if you hit something? I'm not sure about Conn but in BC vehicles are always crashing into elk and deer. Might be worth keeping on.

The loop is more for looks, nothing really strong at all. I actually returned it. Too much going on in the front of the truck with the loop. I like the cleaner look of just the mount.
