Key Fob stopped working can I program a new one off ebay?

Well my 2010 key fob stopped working. I was thinking of buying one on ebay. Can I program it or is that a dealer only.

 

Did you replace the battery?

 

No need to do to the dealer, you can program the FOB yourself. Before dropping coin on Ebay, try the following first:

1. See if your truck just forgot your current FOB. Program steps:

2. If step 1 doesn't work, try replacing the CR2032 battery in your FOB. You can open the FOB with a nickel or quarter and just slide the battery out. When you replace the battery, make sure you see the (+) positive. This battery can be purchased at any major retailer or specialty electronic shop. Once the battery is replaced, redo the programming steps in #1.

3. If the neither of the above work, then go the ebay route. You'll still need the programming steps from #1 to pair the FOB with your taco.

Yes you can reprogram it, look on YouTube, I did mine when I kept one from my 09 when I bought my 2011

 

It's a sequence of opening door and cycling the ignition

 

If thesteps in the link that ziggy posted doesn't work, google it. They may have changed the sequence a bit and those instructions are for a 2007. It is really easy to do. I just did it a couple months ago with the new flip key style fob I bought off ebay.
