I called my stealership yesterday and they played dumb, or the person who answered was clueless, but I got the service manager, and they are well aware of the problem. I don't even need to take the TSB in.

However, there is a national back order, so I have no clue when the damn parts will be released. Meanwhile, if my headlights are affected by this, I can't drive at night.

The lens broke in half and one half melted onto the bulb! LOL! They are telling me that this is not a flammable issue. Is that BS or are they right?

I'll take and post pics later. I got super busy and just missed this until the lenses turned amber and broke.

My amber :puke: lenses broke into pieces. I pulled headlight out and shook the bitch until the pieces fell out. The bigger pieces had to fall towards the headlight hole and I took snippers to them to break em up till they fell out. MAJOR pain in my ass but it was all good after that.

When I took mine in for the 4 hour appointment  (takes me 5 minutes to take both lights out) the guy looked everything over and tried to be a dipshit saying mine is past the mileage. I said look shitass, in the TSB I PRINTED OUT AND IS IN FRONT OF YOU SAYS Mileage doesnt matter........he says "oh, ok, i'll hilight that and get your truck in right now for replacement". DERP!!

Flammable........those DTRL's get hot (I disabled mine) so if any plastic is sitting on the bulb it will get to melting (depending how long you are driving for). Do the DTRL disable then you don't have to worry about shit.

Got my replacements installed today. LOVE the new look, although I wish they had retained the tint. But overall I'm pleased.

No problems with mine yet but I bought it used, hopefully the previous owner took care of this issue. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

I just got mine replaced today but I think I got the wrong ones. They are NOT nearly smoked as my old ones.

As far as looks, they are the same thing I have on mine, and I just got mine swapped out about 4 weeks ago (for this recall). The way I was told to check was the DTRL was clear lens with the bulb yellow/orange. Hope that helps or at least puts you at ease a little

Im pretty sure my old ones had a yellowish cover, now they are transparent and the smoke doesn't look so dark. I may be wrong..I'll go to the dealership tomorrow to see if they still have the old ones and compare.

Ok need an Opinion from you guys. 2005 Tacoma. DRL Burnt Lenses to a Crisp. Realized there was this 'recall' to remedy this. So I take it to the dealer and they say "no problem, we will get you free headlights and fix the problem." Then I get a call saying my truck was not covered? Huh? Something about my VIN not showing up. Tell me to contact Toyota HQ 800#. Called and told them my situation, they said my VIN was not coming up? I have the actual Toyota Corp paperwork that says VINS "within range" are covered and not 'specific' VINS are only covered? Since my VIN is not in their system they are not allowing the claim? They said my truck did not come that way from Toyota Mothership? Then I remember that when I first picked up my truck way back in 2005, it didn't have the DRL's installed at Port. The Dealer, my buddy, got the relay part from the parts counter and we popped it in my truck and now I have DRL. That is why Toyota Says my VIN is not in their system and will not cover my truck? I told them the part was installed by the dealer(my buddy since has left, and dealer shows no official record of install), The DRL is a recognized issue and my headlights are doing the exact same thing. Their Toyota paperwork only stats VINS "within range" which mine falls under. It doesn't list specific VINS on that paper. So after getting a supervisor involved and the regional Toyota Rep, they all said nope, sorry, still not covered! What they did was offer me a $1000 discount on a new Toyota/Lexus of my choice. I just wanted headlights fixed.....

sorry for the rant, had to vent.
    Opinions?

    Thanks

The part that had me in an uproar was their official documentation said my truck is within range.....it didn't sate it was VIN specific....

Got my headlights replaced on my 2010 trd OR. Even replaced them despite the fact that they were non factory replacements put in by body shop when my truck got in a wreck.

I thought the same which is why I never brought it up. They are the ones that brought it up to me and swapped them out. I didn't think twice about it haha
