I don't mind, it's my thread. I'm definitely going to get some kind of cam before my truck's back on the road. While I'm waiting for the body shop, here's my ride:

It's got crap visibility, those rear pillars take up a ton O room, definitely wouldn't buy this ever. It gets OK gas mileage, it's around 26 right now with a 4 banger.

We had a white one when our 2013 Grand Cherokee had a tree fall on it. The 200's look decent sized on the outside but I thought the inside felt really cramped.

You probably misunderstood him. Getting out of her car doesn't mean shit. But when you exchanged names and phone numbers she did meet the requirements of the law.

Well, I got an early christmas present today. When I dropped the truck off last week the body shop told me it probably wouldn't be done until after New Years, which was a let down because the wife and I were planning on taking it on a trip the day after christmas and not having the truck meant the dogs were going to have to stay in a kennel and not come with us.

The body shop called today and said they'll be done with it by noon on weds, christmas eve. Sweet! Still haven't heard from my insurance so I'll have to pay the deductible and hopefully will get it back once the insurance finishes their investigation. The shop installed my 5100's and is giving me a full alignment, which was going to cost $400 at the tire shop I had been planning on taking it to, so even if I have to pay the deductible I won't feel like I wasted a ton of money.

This is the first time I've had insurance work done by a body shop, so my question is what should I look for as far as the quality of work, potential issues, etc?

Go for a test drive and listen for unusual noises/squeaks along with no vibes. Make sure all parts(hood, fender, bumper. headlight) are aligned properly with even gaps(damaged side vs good side) and hood open/closes as expected.

Got it back today, looks great. The 5100's on the front make it ride better, I set them to .85 so it's a little higher than before. Brand new front pieces, new headlights, new fender flare and even got a brand new front wheel. The woman must have partially hit my wheel because there was apparently a crack in it? Didn't know that could happen to steel rims.

They matched the paint great, really can't tell there's any difference. They also managed to pull out a few small dents in my hood that were there before the accident. Over all, for $500 I got a lot done and I'll most likely get that money back nice my insurance finishes their investigation. Since nobody was cited I had to pay the deductible and it's now up to the recovery section to get the other insurance company to pay them back.

    Sucks OP.

I had to chime in just to clear up CVC 20002 (hit and run) in California as there is some bad information above, just trying to help here. I have no idea what the laws are in your state OP, but in California getting out and giving a phone number is insufficient and would be a misdemeanor violation.

CVC 20002 (a)(1) requires that the driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting only in in damage to any property, including vehicles shall immediately stop at the nearest location that will not impeded traffic . . . locate and notify the owner or person of that property of THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE DRIVER AND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE INVOLVED . . . [further the driver of the vehicle] upon being requested [is required to] present his or her driver's license, and vehicle registration.

The information presented shall include the current residence address of the driver and of the registered owner.

The above is directly from the California vehicle code. True you don't need to call the cops for fender bender, but if one of the parties, regardless of fault, fails to comply with the above statute, then it is a misd. 20002(a) and the driver should be prosecuted. If a cop fails to take a report, I would ask for the watch commander or Sergeant on duty and request a report be taken and forwarded to the DA for prosecution.

Sorry to interrupt your thread, but I really think people should know what their rights are and how to ensure this sort of thing doesn't happen to them. Good luck in your fix.

Just an FYI for all you folks saying she left the scene... in CA if you stop and exchange information in an accident with no injuries with less than major property damage, that is all you are required to do.

If you're both able to drive away, she was well within her right to leave.
