Mounting a 30" light bar

So I just got my light bar. I'm thinking of mounting it to the bumper in front of the grille. I'll run a piece of angle iron the length of the bar on the underside of the plastic for support. I think it should be fine. My major concern is restricting air flow. Has anyone mounted one like this? Any issues/better options?

 

I have a 30" in my lower valence. I haven't noticed any restrictions at all. You should be fine!

Never thought about putting a light bar there. Cool idea.

 

Trust me, I was worried about the air flow issue also....no issues though......until that big Buck came along.

 

Did you have to cut the stock plastic to fit the bar in there? How did you mount it too!? I WANT THAT!

 

You will have to cut the plastic. I am guessing he used the Rigid mount:

I mounted mine with self taping screws right into the crash bar. No issues whatsoever

Only reason I did it that way was becuase if I ever sell or trade it in I plan to take my extras off in this case the lower plastic grill would have to be cut out and wouldn't look to good without the light bar there. just something to think about.

 

I mounted a 20 and two 8's behind my billit lower. Bolted to a one inch square aluminum piece that's bolted to the crash bars. I like the hidden look, bars are switched separately.

 

Can you please make a video or something on how to do this?

 

What mount did you use? I don’t want to cut anything.
