How can I fit a three person kayak in my truck? Over 50% of the kayak hangs out when in the bed. I can strap it down like that just for going down the street but I want explore farther. Is the roof strong enough to hold the weight? I don't have a roof rack...
    Any advice helps.

    Not going to brag.
If you are committed to kayaking, then a roof rack is a great investment. . If nothing else, look at the Malone Handi Rack as a cheap, but sturdy alternative to a rigid roof rack.

    X2 on the roof rack

Just keep in mind the weight limit of the racks, and the loading/unloading of the boat

My taco has a ARE cap with a Thule rack it holds two kayaks with relative ease. The rack is rated for a few hundred pounds but for safety the yaks have to be strapped to the truck and not just the rack!!

Toyota has a OEM rack which people tend to like, but it doesent hold a whole lot of weight, I think around 100lbs

All the major brands have racks that will strap to your roof

If you kayak often I would seriously consider a track type rack for the bed of the tacoma. They are mostly aluminum, hold some serious weight and you can toss the boat up there with relative ease

ARB lockers and 4.88s front and rear, OME 886s, Dakars, etc., Safari Snorkel, 17"Fuel Revolvers w/ 35x12.50r17 KM2s, fenders cut 3" all around, Pioneer AVH-P4400BH w/ Backup cam, CB/PA (PA Installed), Weathertech Digis, Foglight anytime, AP: front bumper, skids, and pack rack, custom sliders, Warn 9.5XP, dual VIAIR 480Cs with a 2.5gal tank, OTRATTW switches galore, URD y-pipe, RCI skids, LF 240s, etc.
Or check out the idea of a bed cage. I have the AllPro Pack Rack (tall version) and it has been amazing for our canoe, AIRE, and a couple of kayaks.
BAMF also makes a good one. I'm sure there are tons of good ones out there...or just get a generic Thule bed rack system
