49 state convertor vs ca

    Ok....I need some help here, I'm getting different answers from different people. My 2000 Tacoma 2.7l has a trouble code of p0420 and I've changed the o2 sensors. I was told that it may be the cats that need replacing. My truck says it meets all CA emissions standards on the sticker under the hood. However, I live in NC and don't need emissions testing. Can a 49 state approved cat be placed on my truck in lieu of the CA one? The difference in price is about a $150 depending on where you look. I just didn't know if the computer was set up different for the 49 and the CA and do not want to have these issues again. Any help would be appreciated.
