I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma with the factory radio and speakers in it. Right below the heating and air controls I have an aux plug to plug your phone into. I have done everything I know to do to activate it and it will not do anything, so I am looking for some suggestions? I was thinking it may not work at all possible. I can get pictures if need be.

That is what I hook my ipod up to. What are you trying to do with the input?

In my 2011 the aux plug is a 1/8 male jack , it takes the out put (headphone jack) from your iphone/pod etc and just plays it through the speakers. So if it is not loud enough with the stereo volume maxed you have to turn up the iphone / ipod . Short answer the system sucks! I replaced it within 3 months. I could not hear the news/podcasts going down the highway 65 to 70 mph with both windows open and max volume.

Unless you have this Toyota Ipod Interface Kit (Part number is PT545-00082) http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyota-Accessories-PT545-00082-Interface/dp/B00BRL6WJY

Push the aux button so it displayed AUX on the screen.
    It does not switch automatically

Yeah there is green female 3MM socket in the dash by the lighter outlets. the radio has to be switched to "aux" to work. Mine's an SR5 package maybe all of them did not have that feature.

It's just an auxiliary port. Not like the usb ports in the newer trucks. Any media player that uses aux ports should work.
This. It's there. Once on aux mode it will play.
