Don't forget to get rid of those pesky windshield wipers. I hate how they go back and forth right in my line of site. Defroster hooked to the AC, just them hippies that don't like condensation on the inside of windows. Tail lights, if people would just watch they can see I'm slowing down. Don't get me started with brakes, why when I was young we would 4 wheel in an old 50's Willy's Wagon with no brakes. Driver just down shifted to low and the passenger jumped out with a big rock to throw in front of the back tire. Stopped you just fine. You just had to hope the driver could get it in 1st gear and not get stuck in neutral on a down hill, if not you just went downhill a little faster than you liked.

I disabled my light, but only because my winter wheels don't have sensors and I got sick of it flashing at me.

I'll admit I like the backup camera very much, though. When parallel parking it's awesome to see exactly how close the back of the truck is to the vehicle behind me. I always think I have less room than I actually do.

TPMS will let you know your tire pressure is going down before you get out and check them. So if you hit a nail, the light comes on before you realize you are running on a flat tire. It gives you extra time to get safely where you can check the tire's condition.
TPMS has a pressure gauge mounted on the wheel with a non-replaceable battery that lasts 4-10 yrs. It repeatedly sends out a signal identifying itself, the pressure and the temperature. The Taco has cut costs by only putting an idiot light on the dash, rather than a screen that shows all 4 tires, their pressures and temperatures.
The sensors' IDs have to be entered into the truck's computer so it doesn't pick up a reading from another Tacoma's tires as it passes you on the freeway.
The easiest way to delete the system it to take off the sensors and put them in a sealed PVC tube that can be inflated above 29psi, and keep the tube in the truck.
Replacements sell for around 50 bucks. When the 19 year old tire guy takes the tire off your wheel, it is easy for him to smack the sensor and break it. Make sure your light is not on or flashing after he has worked on your tire...
The computer can only handle 4 (sometimes 5) tires. If you have 4 extra wheels for the winter tires, you have to re-program the computer when you put the new wheels on. My 2010 does not have TPMS on the steel spare wheel, only the 4 fancy wheels.
To drive with the TPMS idiot light on creates issues, as the truck's computer uses this info in its calculations.

That is true but they came with them since 08 and I'm guessing 80% of them are still functional. All though they are not mandatory every province has laws that forbids disabling safety systems this of course means that if some thing happens and a shop removed them they will be liable including vehicles that come into a shop with malfunctioning systems.

Poor rear visibility is an issue with newer cars and all pickups. You can be responsible all you want but you can't see behind your pick up for a good 20 feet. The fact is a great portion of fatalities are children they are short. Now I’m sure before you backup you get out and have a look behind you but most people don’t do that so they decided it would be safer to install a camera. It is a good tool just like power steering and automatic transmissions so if you want just don’t look at your display that will fix them. As far as charging someone it really comes down to negligence if a camera fails it's up to the owner to repair it not the government maybe you should have a chat with a parent that has run over their own kid and see what their thoughts are on backup cameras.

I would like to respond to the McDonalds comments...in this case, McDonalds had a company policy of serving coffee at 185 degrees, far too hot to drink, but hot enough to burn, so folks wouldn't stick around for a second cup. There had been a number of lawsuits on the issues that McDonalds settled out of court for undisclosed sums and sealed records.

In this particular case, it was an older lady, with limited mobility and some nerve damage. The lid was NOT tight on the cup, so when the lady went to grab, it spilled into her crotch, causing 3rd degree burns and requiring skin grafts and reconstructive surgery.

There was REAL damage done by a company policy designed to save money and put the public at risk. We have clear evidence the company knew about the hazard and choose NOT to correct the hazard on profit issues.

Does this sound like the act of "hippies?" I think money grubbing big business and morally declined lawyers.

This is defiantly a liberal/conservative issue. I always see all those hippies at city hall with signs saying TMPS NOW! and hands up! don't check my tire pressure!

I live in Utah, it's the law here too. We need to get all these hippies out of the Utah, and Texas gubmint.

Come on guys! It's our country, not theirs!!

Before I smoked today I felt TPMS was very valuable as it alerts me when to check air pressure in-between oil changes. Especially valuable in the winter time. Now after I smoked today it all seems just tooooo complicated.
