2015 Super White DCSB TRD OR 6MT
    Hey Folks!

So here's the deal: I ordered a '15 TRD Pro 6MT Inferno back in August (not anticipating that I wouldn't have it by now ) and I'm starting to grow a bit impatient. The dealer told me it's on the allocation sheet but no build date yet. I just recently had to replace my clutch/master cylinder/slave cylinder in my current car and I'm basically not wanting to spend any more money on some foreseeable repairs coming up. Another dealer has been looking at other possible options and came up with these two. I'm wanting to pull the trigger soon but I don't necessarily want to settle since it's a significant purchase and I'm planning on keeping it at least 10 years. I really wanted these options for sure: 6MT, Entune with nav, 4WD, dbl cab, tow package, either Barcelona Red/Super White/Inferno, and off-road package of some sort (preferably TRD Pro or Baja), and back-up camera. I've included the specs on the other two trucks. I'm not sure why the total price on the Baja is still so high since the truck is the last model year & I'm pretty sure that's close to the price of what the TRD Pro will cost. I had the mod bug with my car that I've had for the last 10 years, '04 Acura TSX 6MT, and don't really plan on doing many or any mods to the truck (hence the want for the Baja or TRD Pro). My question is should I wait for my TRD Pro with all the options I selected to be built, take the Trd Offroad 6MT and save $, or take the fully loaded (automatic) '14 Baja? Btw I'm going to talk to the dealer that suggested the Trd Offroad and Baja tomorrow morning.

Honestly get what attracts you. I got he Sports edition and I love it!! Some people prefer the OR better but I liked the color-matched bumper, front grill and side mirrors along with the hood scoop.

In my opinion there are certain options that are important to decide on from the factory that will cost a lot or be a hassle. Leather, 4x4, and locker. Everything else can be added on later.

Me personally if I wanted what the trd pro had to offer I would just buy the cheapest trd and add a mid travel kit as soon as it left the lot for a decent savings. Good luck on your purchase and congrats in advance.

wait for 2016 tacoma..... or at least until jan 21st (less than a month) to see what the 2016 tacoma is going to be offering. Then make your decision.

That stated..... the TRD baja / trd pro are just glorified overpriced TRD off roads..... if i had to choose between the 3 right now, it would be the TRD OR, then spend 600 bucks or so on some shocks n coils for the front, an AAL and shocks in the rear. and actually have a better suspension setup then either the baja or pro for MUCH less.... with all the benefits (locker, atrac, etc)

I agree, however I don't think $600 will buy anywhere near as good of suspension as what comes on the Pro or Baja.

2015 TRD Pro in the Garage!
If you would be happy with the Baja, haggle for a better price! My neighbor got a Super white Baja 4dr Auto (Entune + with Nav non JBL) with factory tow for $36k. OTD in Ca.). They seem a bit high priced on the one you have listed. You can pretty much build a Baja (less decals) by simply getting wheels, tires front struts and rear shocks. The Baja is pretty much a suspension / tires / wheels package. If you want a Pro, you can buy it cheaper than you can build it do to the mix of additional things they put on the Pro's. I got my 4dr auto Inferno with factory tow for Just a tad over 38k which came to 41, 500 OTD in California. Time from when it showed up on their Allotment sheet to sitting in my Garage was about 6 weeks....Nov. 10 to Dec 18. The Inferno is an amazing color and I like most of the cosmetic stuff they did with the Pro so waited for it. Also considered a TRD OR and then adding the Wheels & Tires like the Pro has....then I saw Inferno in person and decided it was worth the wait. Good luck in your quest!

Hey, it's your call on what you want, I have the TRD offroad 4x4 and love it.
At the time I ordered it the dealer told me there would be no more Baja's:eek:
Of course there were no pro's at this time.

I think waiting for the 2016 model to see what Toyota is offering is sage advice. But I am also hesitant about first year model products as it seems there are always "issues" - as a consumer you are essentially beta testing their product for them, on your dime

My wife ordered a Pro model for herself (not me). The pro was announced a few weeks after I ordered my taco! From my observation, the main difference between the standard off road and the Pro/Baja is suspension. Also, the Pro has a few extras like the cat back exhaust, and TRD wheels, not sure about Baja exhaust. All in all, I feel the Pro would be worth the price difference if you planned on doing some suspension stuff anyway given the potential warranty issues. See below

In my mind, I was simply going to add icon or fox, which is probably better than Toyota's suspension, and call it a day and not worry about the pro model. From my research you won't touch the suspension upgrade for $600 - I am looking at $3-$5K!. The problem is my local dealer is being a scrooge about aftermarket parts voiding the warranty. I know I have read on the forum about the 'Magnuson-Moss Warranty—Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act' - but it will be a fight for sure based on the initial feed back the service manager gave me. I would have just avoided that train wreck had I known there would be an issue upgrading. And of course the Pro model wasn't announced or at least I was clueless about it until after I had ordered my truck. Also keep in mind that the specs say the Pro model is 1.75" taller ride height over the stock Tacoma OR. Not sure about the Baja. But that appears to be the main dealer argument - aftermarket shocks change the geometry and cause premature wear on all things drive train related - which he said they would not warrant.

More on my ignorance - what in the world is the "6MT"?

Wait for the 2016 release. There are plenty of first year tacomas from the 1st gen and 2nd gen still rolling along, so I wouldn't worry about it.

O.P. - Didn't you already put down a down payment of at least a few hundred dollars on the truck you ordered?

If not, then I don't think you actually ordered a truck, or your dealer didn't actually order the truck from Toyota. Ordering involves putting a down payment down (usually $500 or $1,000) and getting your VIN number at the time you have put a deposit down. It also doesn't usually take more than 3 months once you put down money and get the VIN.

If you did put a down payment down, then you'll loose it going to a different dealer. I would try to re-order from the same dealer and have them match the price of the other dealer without loosing your down payment.

2015 Super White DCSB TRD OR 6MT

That's what I thought was kind of weird with the original dealer. I was going through the Fleet Manager & he never asked for a deposit. He told me once I got a build date that he'd call me to come in to put down the deposit. Last I heard from him a few weeks ago was that my TRD Pro showed up on the allocation sheet and we were just waiting on the build date. I ended up going with the Super White OR 6MT and it's supposed to get to port the end of January and delivered to DFW the first week of February. I already put down a $1k deposit on it. Price ended up being $32,910 plus TT&L for a total of $36,500. I'm just ready for a new/more reliable car since what I'm driving now is starting to need a bunch of repairs.
