Have any of you let your insurance companies know about modifications to your trucks and particularly for aftermarket bumpers? What issues did you have with them if you did so?

I' m an insurance agent and it is a good idea to let your company know you have add ons so you know it's covered. Addtional equipment is cheap to insure. When I bought my topper, it cost me $6. Per year to insure. That's for $2500.

Arb front bumper, warn winch, All Pro rear bumper, OME up front, OME and All Pro Standard in Back, ARB locker, 34 x 10.5 KO2's, 17" Level 8 Trackers, and fancy single piece driveshaft.
I would tell your insurance company, and take photos of everything installed and keep receipts. Some companies will only cover accy's if you add a rider, like Dances did with his topper. Some won't do that, and want to pay "market value" if your truck is totaled or stolen. So you need the pics and receipts to justify your version of market value. No matter what happens, accessories depreciate faster than the truck, so you will only get partial value with a claim.

Our bumpers are dangerously weak as it is. Anything aftermarket would be an improvement.

Thats one of the concerns I had also. Wonder if the insurance companies would deny coverage for your vehicle with an aftermarket bumper?

I will assume that they will do anything to keep from paying the claim. The best way to avoid this is use one agent and "ask" via email. Now you have a written receipt. Gap coverage is a great idea too. It covers the cost of the vehicle compared to the payoff. With the Tacos we don't suffer so bad, but go buy a ford taurus and drive it off the lot. I will guess at a 20% loss instantly. As for all of the lifts, rims, super chargers, $1200 light bars, $500 lights etc.... I would buy a rider. Tailgates have a habit of running off in the night up here in ohio! Usually the rider is a very low deductible too
